How quickly the day disappears

So, I know as the days become darker earlier and earlier that it may seem that the end of the day draws to an end somewhat quicker,however I do love the different rhythm of the day-how cosier dimmer evenings are an excuse for earlier homely fires and curried meals and sticky fruit puddings and warm wine and it becomes accepted that the rug commonly draped across a chair becomes my mantle while I am cuddled on the sofa as we watch reruns of our favourite series.

I love that the feather duvet feels just right at this time of year-heavy and closeted and warm.How waking up to winter sunshine feels kind of toasty because toes and fingers and a warmth extends throughout my whole body that is wrapped under that covering- A gift from my Mama as a barrier to cold seasonal weather

A cup of tea feels special at this time of year. The teapot in its many forms treasures spicy concoctions of cinnamon cardoman ginger and black pepper and cloves or green tea and rose leaves or brewed nettle and mint or lemon. Brews with ingredients to impart energy and to help strengthen immune systems from impending viral attacks. Piping hot drinks just right to accompany a strong reading light and a good book.

I love collecting logs and pretending to help split the wood -sorting piles like maturing wine into an order- the driest of which ensures a hearty fire -soft wood versus hard wood, kindling versus sticks that carry the initial spark into a glow into a light into a blazing hot fire that emits real heat. The whole process enabling us to take advantage of the opportunity to warm ourselves several times collecting,chopping,sorting and ultimately finally sitting in front of a glowing fire.

I love the hum of the oven and the satisfaction of the risen loaf or cake and the toasting of homemade bread resplendent with summer fruit made into jams.
May the cosiness of the Winter season warm our hearts and prepare us to share and spread an inner glow of love and satisfaction with others.
