Hi All
I wrote ‘Bringing up the girls‘ in celebration of my Mama and her Mama and her Mamas Mama.
Our ancestors are the blocks from which we build and My Mama certainly provides this base that has spread throughout her family and continues to be filtered down to her granddaughters.
I am truly lucky to be able to celebrate this geat woman with her.
I learned today that her name B stands for bold, powerful and significant and I am honored to carry it.
I have written many poems celebrating my Mamas influences.
In Searching for an Oasis http://www.amazon.com/dp/B09J1FDWNH these are: ‘ Gettin’ up that hill, Stand up and be counted , A New day, Poor, Growth I could go on- there is a theme in the book dedicated to family however, my Mamas influence permeates the book and indeed she was instrumental in the practical implementation of publishing this book. Without my Mamas support Searching for an Oasis could never have come to be on 8/10/2021- National poetry day and in Black history month October UK
Lets us celebrate our building blocks.
Let us never forget who they are,how they have supported and continue to support us to become better and better human beings
Much love to them all.
